The CookPak® heating system can be integrated into a variety of package formats including metal cans, molded cups, and even flexible pouches.
In every case the heater is contained in a separate, sealed compartment of a prepared food package. The heater is composed entirely of food-safe, environmentally-friendly materials. While metal cans transmit the heat most readily, the CookPak® system can be designed to precisely couple heat generation and dissipation so that almost any food is ready in less than eight minutes, and beverages in less than six minutes.
The CookPak® system's versatility allows tremendous flexibility in the types of food that can be heated: soups, chilis, pastas, snacks, beverages, sandwiches and more.
The heater design and output can be customized for every application and each CookPak® system licensee is free to bring their own creative and culinary expertise to the way that they use the system.
WHERE CAN YOU APPLY the CookPak® system?

The CookPak® system was originally developed for the US Army. Studies by the Army have proven the positive effect on morale of a hot meal. Thus, the Army mandates at least one hot meal a day for every US soldier no matter where they may be stationed.
In 1999 the Army introduced the first chemical heater for the MRE. In 2005, RBC began development on an improved air-activated replacement.
The Army’s stringent requirements called for minimum weight, cost, complexity, and size. In addition, the product had to be dispensable and maintain a three-year shelf life. Both the packaging and heater would have to maintain their operational capability at temperatures from –25° F to 120° F and all materials, both packaging and heating system, had to be safe for operation, transportation, storage, and disposal (activated or not) in accordance with DOT/EPA/FAA regulations.
The trend toward healthier eating with convenience and flavor are major drivers across multiple food categories. Everyone appreciates a hot meal yet today less than 60% of US meals are prepared and eaten in the home.
Nevertheless, Americans want balanced nutrition, not solely convenience. Consumers are increasingly seeking healthy foods that taste good, for eating on-the-go.
The CookPak® system’s air-activated, self-heating food packaging enables food processors to make their specialties available to on-the go consumers when the nearest stove is miles away.
